Bearded Dragon loose in Wairere!

image

Teachers, Jonathan Ritchie and Whaea Debbie try their hand at lizard-wrangling.

Wairere's Te Reo lesson featured an unexpected element today, as, in the middle of her lesson,  Whaea Debbie reached her hand into a nearby cage and pulled out a..... bearded dragon, called Lizzie.  We learned some new Maori vocabulary, like tarawewehi, meaning anxiety, (which quite a few of us were feeling), before mustering some courage and taking our turn to give Lizzie a little tickle.
