We would be grateful if your child could bring to school headings and articles from the newspaper, that they may like to use in their artwork about an environmental issue. Read on for details...
Kia ora whānauThis term we are studying and recreating art in the style of contemporary New Zealand artist, Tracey Tawhiao. You can view visual examples of her artwork here: website https://constantinseverin.wordpress.com/2015/03/07/severins-choice-tracey-tawhiao/
Students will need to decide on an environmental concern, issue or an injustice they would like to draw attention to, and create an artwork that represents their message e.g. excessive use of plastic bags/straws, global warming, cutting down forests, polluting etc. You may like to begin discussing and researching ideas with your child at home, so they are prepared with a few ideas for school.
We would be grateful if your child could bring environmental articles from the newspaper (with headings) that they may like to use in their artwork. They will use the headlines or selected words in the article/s to send their message (see image).
Students will complete their visual artworks at different times over the term, so please keep sending in environmental articles throughout the next few weeks. We will also need newspapers for the background paper.
Please see Whaea Rachel for further clarification.
Thank you
