Camp Fees Due

A reminder that Yr5/6 Camp fees for Living Springs are due now. Please arrange payment at the office ($130).  A gear list, medical forms and permission slips were handed out last week. Check the bottom of those bags if you haven't sighted them yet, or ask for another set from your teacher.  Thanks for returning these asap. We are all looking forward to an exciting camp on March 16-18.

Check out the Living Springs School Camp website for photos of activities.

Warm welcome to Miss Harris who joins us in Room 2 and Team Wairere for the next 5 weeks.

Kia Ora,
My name is Georgia Harris. I am a third year teaching student at the University of Canterbury. I just want to share with you all a few things about me; I am from Nelson where my family lives, I love Nelson and its beautiful weather. Now I live in Christchurch where I flat with 4 of my good friends. I play the violin, I started when I was six years old and still try to play occasionally around home, and I also played in the school orchestra. I also love playing netball and am a big fan of rugby especially when the All Blacks are playing. I am really looking forward to getting to know you all and create enjoyable memories and fun learning experiences over the next 5 weeks.
Feel free to approach me with any questions you may have or just for a chat, I would love to talk and get to know you all. Can’t wait to get to be a part of your amazing class.
Kind regards

Georgia Harris J

Weeding our Garden

Kia Ora.  We got stuck into the garden last Friday to fight off some of the weeds that have taken over there over the holidays.  Corn, spuds and carrots are looking good.  We're after some more seedlings or fruit trees, should you have contacts, or spare plants!

Sophie's Wasp Nest

Today we had a very interesting show and tell with Sophie.  She had bought a wasp nest into the class, complete with a queen wasp.  Sarah said it looked a lot like honeycomb, without the honey.  Nykita said it felt squishy, like my pillow. Rosie thought it smelled bad, like the dump.  That could have been the fly spray that was sprayed on it!
It had a weird texture like cardboard, thought Savannah.
Thanks to Sophie and her family for providing such interesting nature table items.
